Mount Morris Facades — The O'Connell OrganizationVillage of Mount Morris, NY
To help transform a nearly abandoned historical commercial strip in this upstate New York town, renovations and restorations were proposed to storefronts and facades. Though many of the buildings in the downtown district were vacant and in disrepair, the Village of Mount Morris possessed great potential both architecturally and economically. Solutions for the facade and storefront renovation of twenty buildings were prepared for participation in the Village of Mount Morris Main Street Grant Program with the goal of creating a vibrant and appealing downtown aesthetic. The scope of work ranged from general facade improvements to upper level interior renovations of buildings that had been neglected and/or complete restoration of storefronts that had been concealed by previous renovations incongruent with the historic architectural style. Renderings were created for restaurants, retail shops, a barber shop and residences on the upper floors in anticipation of doing the work and to obtain Main Street grant funds, and aided the owner in obtaining tenants for each prior to commencing construction.
