A FRESH LOOK ON HUGUENOT STREET

Designed to appeal to “millennial” and “empty-nesters” this six-story, 60-unit multi-family residential building at 387 Huguenot Street, New Rochelle, was approved by the city’s Planning Board this summer and is one of the first buildings designed using the newly-adopted form-based zoning.
An artfully-composed, fiber-cement rain screen cladding system gives the building a contemporary appearance. A zinc-clad stepped-back upper floor is juxtaposed with a rich, manganese and iron-spot grey brick base.
The project incorporates a community art gallery at the first floor, which is intended to contribute meaningfully to the formation of an arts district in the downtown.
The economical, wood-frame modular construction system helps contain construction cost.
