Ten Things We Loved About 2015

We loved working together as a collaborative team, both with our clients and with each other, at Doban Architecture and Think Fabricate. Here are some of our many favorite things about 2015…

Envisioning Universal Pre-K in Borough Park

We loved bringing creative patterns, layouts, and materials to the transformation of a former Nabisco warehouse (and more recently a women’s underwear emporium)  into an 18-classroom pre-kindergarten for the NYC School Construction Authority.

Bringing a New Look to the Bronx

We loved being  tapped to bring “the wow factor” to projects at Monroe College’s Bronx campus, starting with envisioning the metamorphosis of the King Hall lobby.

Appreciating Elevated Train Tracks as Sun Shades

On our many visits to the Bronx this year,  we found beauty in the changing patterns of shadows cast from on high, as shown in our design for a building to house the Schools of Allied Health and Science.

Adding to the Mix in New Rochelle

In 2015, we were excited to receive an Outstanding Design award from American School & University for our earlier work at the mixed-use Gaddy Hall on Monroe College’s New Rochelle Campus, and to see work proceed on the phase 2 cafeteria project! Looking forward to trying the pizza in January 2016!

Thinking About a New Look for Station Plaza South

Our concept for the New Rochelle Station Plaza South made the new New Rochelle logo motif larger than life.

Making Urban Linkages

We loved seeing Anthony Bulfmante’s plantings make our Huguenot Walkway project come alive each season with greens, purples, pinks, and reds!

Bringing Green to City Sidewalks

Along with our colleagues at Think Fabricate, we enjoyed bringing greenery to the corner of Garfield Place and Eighth Avenue in Park Slope and loved seeing our Sukkah used and appreciated by so many in the community.

Celebrating Espresso in South Brooklyn

We loved accommodating three generations and lots of Italian tile in one totally transformed and modernized Dyker Heights home.

Collaborating with Think Fabricate on Kinetic and more!

We proudly participated in BKLYN DESIGNS with our colleagues at Think Fabricate, developing details for the Kinetic Collection and in mixing cocktails for our shared booth at the Brooklyn Expo Center!

As a team of architects/designers/thinkers/makers, we look forward with great anticipation to embracing new technologies, sharing ideas, and creating exciting projects together in 2016!
