(New Rochelle, NY, June 2019) This June, CAC Realty Group is breaking ground on a six-story modular multi-family residential building in New Rochelle. Designed by the Brooklyn-based firm Doban Architecture, which has played a key role in the revitalization of downtown New Rochelle, the 54,000 GSF, 60-unit building is the latest in a series of modular multi-family buildings to be constructed in New Rochelle within the downtown overlay zone, and the fourth new building designed by Doban in the downtown.

Known as ’The Huguenot’, the new building will sit at the southwest end of the D-03 district in the downtown overlay zone, at 387 Huguenot, near the intersection of Huguenot and Main Streets, within easy walking distance of the New Rochelle transit hub. The site was formerly home to a vehicle rental agency and two smaller residential buildings, and will now be transformed into a luxury apartment building designed to appeal to millennials and empty-nesters alike.

The unit mix in this wood-framed modular building is varied, with a range of studio, one- and two-bedroom units, some with expansive terraces at the uppermost level. The building will be dog-friendly, and will offer a dog-washing facility and a roof-top dog run. In addition to a fitness center, common spaces will be available to residents for social gatherings. Innovative automated parking will be available for residents as well. The art gallery–one of the two ground-floor retail spaces–will further enhance the creative spirit already apparent in downtown New Rochelle.

Doban Architecture has designed more than 20 projects in downtown New Rochelle for private developers, the Business Improvement District, the City of New Rochelle and for Monroe College. The Huguenot is Doban Architecture’s second modular building in New Rochelle, and fourth new building in the city’s downtown. The firm has recently worked with the BID to reimagine the Huguenot Walkway, and with the City to provide traveler amenities at the train station. The firm’s design aesthetic has shaped the distinct character of Monroe College’s downtown New Rochelle campus with projects including the mixed-use Gaddy Hall, the recently constructed Locust Hall, and their Culinary Arts Center.
